This has been a really awful time. I attempted to set up a store account, but logging in was a no-go. I reached out for assistance, but I couldn't even submit a help request since I had to log in first. So, I thought I'd try resetting my password. I sent in a password reset request and waited. It's been three days, and still no word back. I really recommend steering clear of Sketchfab.

I've noticed a couple of times where random folks, who haven't shared any models or helped out in the community, left some really inappropriate comments. I flagged these issues, but sadly, nothing was done. It feels like the team favors those with a big following over regular users who actually contribute. There are definitely better and more supportive platforms out there. I used to give this one a thumbs up, but they kinda have a habit of turning your own models against you, which is part of the deal when you upload.

In the past, I would have easily suggested it as a dependable option for my clients and folks in tech workshops. But now, I just can't support Sketchfab anymore because of several issues with their staff, making it really tough for Indigenous creators to present their own respectful and family-friendly work on the site.

Basically, these assets don’t hold much value and just seem like a way to squeeze cash from folks who didn’t see the fine print in the license agreement. I’ve bought from other places like the Unity asset store, and they don’t charge for these kinds of assets. To make matters worse, the original creator of those animations shared them on YouTube for free, and here comes Truebones, charging folks for what should be free. It’s like the pot calling the kettle black, right?

Let’s be real, once you toss something online, there’s always a chance it could get swiped. That’s just how it goes. So before you start pointing fingers at others for stealing and selling, maybe take a moment to reflect and reconsider your own actions.

I recently finished reading a book by Truebones and I must say, it's quite amusing how they go on about stolen content and selling stolen content, considering they charge $29 for animations that they obtained from game rips. What's even worse is that the person who originally ripped those animations posted them on YouTube for free, and now Truebones has the audacity to charge people for them. It's a classic case of the pot calling the kettle black.

By the way, if you're just starting out or want to experiment with 3D models, Sketchfab is a great place to find materials and showcase your work.

Let's face it, once you post anything on the internet, there's always the potential for it to be stolen. That's just a fact of life. So before you start complaining about people stealing and selling, maybe take a good look in the mirror first and think twice about throwing stones.
